A combination of belief in the future, of hard work and hopes, culminated in a dream come true for the East Coast Bays Bridge Club when they opened their newly built premises in Lyons Avenue, Murrays Bay on December 7th 1970.
A large crowd of members, friends, and VIP's from the bridge world attended when the official opening ceremony was performed by Air Commodore T F Gill, the Member of Parliament for Waitemata.
The building and parking area were built at a cost of $20,000 on a reserve of land which the East Coast Bays Borough Council made available to the Club. Debentures of $12,000 were advanced by members, plus a bank loan.
All visitors are welcome. Visitors must be introduced to the President or to the Director. Excluding the holiday programme, local visitors are only allowed three attendances in any calendar year. Overseas visitors are also welcome. All visitors pay the usual table money and would donate an amount pro rata their length of stay.
